No crystal ball gazing required here, we hook you up with the upcoming trends of 2017!
2016 was a big year for fashion as we stole looks from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. But it’s time we updated our styles and wardrobes once again because 2017 has some changes in store.
We scoured the fashion scene and runways to present to you trends that you should get a head start with. But as you know, fashion is defiant, so it’s best to be prepared for anything.
OUT: Graphic Tees
For years, logos took over the t shirt game in fashion, from branded logos to bands we’re sure you’ve never heard of, to fast food chain logos. It’s time to put an end to that.
In 2017, brands are focusing more on getting messages and thoughts across to the general public. We’re all for Haider Ackermann’s be your own hero tee and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s strong statement tee’s rocking “We Should All Be Feminists”.
OUT: Bare Shoulders
2016 was all about baring those arms and shoulders, with cut-outs, off shoulder blouses, and slinky Coachella-worthy tops.
This year we’re pushing forward with a little help from the past, think Tudors. We’ll be seeing more pastoral fashion with the introduction of layers, puffed sleeves and caped-like outfits. But we’re hoping this doesn’t bring back shoulder pads!
Trend predictors have agreed on this surprising claim: skinny heels five inches or higher will inch their way out as women today are focused on stylist comfort and practicality.
We don’t mean we’ll all be rocking bejewelled crocs as seen on runways last year but we’re moving towards low-block heels; for those who still need (or want) the height are opting for platforms.
As seen on Marc Jacobs Spring 2017 collection and Gucci’s Resort 2017 collection, platforms are making their way back, reintroducing comfort to fashion.
OUT: Skinny
We’re channelling the polished woman look this year with skinny pants and skirts phasing out and slim silhouettes and structured boss lady apparels making a big comeback.
IN: Structured
This could also mean a big shift in the denim era with more vintage silhouettes and contrasting denim styles leading the runway. Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Michael Kors and a slew of other designers are already featuring these looks on their runways.
