You may be running late, or you may be flirting with boys by swimming pool. Either way, even wet hair deserves to look wicked.

The key to styling wet hair is to be gentle with it as it’s especially prone to breaking. So opt for styles that keep your scraggly strands from showing while keeping the style loose enough to allow it to air dry – you don’t want headaches!

1 Messy Low Bun

Step aside top knots. While pulling all your hair up might cause too much tension especially if you have thick and heavy hair, leaving it in a loose bun at the nape of your neck lets the hair relax.

  1. Gather your hair into a low ponytail, then looselytwist it into a cinnamon bun or scrunch your hair up at the nape of your neck.
  2. Tie a hair band around the bun.

Pro tip: leaving your fringe out not only frames the face, but leaves more hair loose to air dry better.

2 Rope Braid

We love this cheat braid cause it looks like it takes way more skills than it actually does to perfect it. Plus, you’re likely to get pretty waves when the braid dries!

  1. Gather your hair into a low ponytail, then tie it with a hair band.
  2. Separate your hair into 2 even sections. Twist 1 section clockwise and the other counter clockwise. Then, wrap one section over the other.
  3. Tie a hair band at the end of the pony tail

Pro tip: There are so many ways to play with the rope braid! Do one on each side, then bring it to the middle for this could-care-less-but-so-chic look.

3 Triple Topsy Turvy

An easy hairstyle that doesn’t put tension in your hair, looks great from all angles, and keeps your hair together.

  1. Gather one-third of your hair from the crown and tie it with a hair band.
  2. Separate the hair in the centre before the hair band, then loop the ponytail through the top and pull out downwards.
  3. Repeat step 2 with a second section of hair below the first one, and a third section of hair below the second one.

Pro tip:  You don’t have to tie all the sections in the centre of your head, move them off centre to the left and right alternately for a messier look.

4 Fishtail Braid

This braid is intricate, yet easy on the hair. Because of the detailed handiwork of this braid, it’s actually easier to do when your hair is wet!

  1. Gather your hair into a ponytail at the back or to one side. Separate it into 2 sections.
  2. Take about 0.5 inches from the outer end of one section and cross it over to merge with the other section.
  3. Repeat step 2 with the other section. Then, repeat by swapping 0.5 inches of hair alternately with both sections.
  4. Tie a hair band at the end of the pony tail.

Pro tip: We’re not gonna lie, this one takes practice! To make it easier, you can tie your hair into a ponytail before starting. This gives you a steadier start as you’re juggling the cross-overs.

You can stop braiding midway your ponytail for a fresher look that you can claim to have thought of all by yourself – we won’t tell.

5 Double French Braid

This is a personal lazy hair favourite. Easy, classic, and playful. Plus, if you do this on damp hair, you get pretty perfect waves when you unravel it.

This one’s not complicating if you already know French braid or 3-strand braids. Just in case you’re new to the playground, watch this.

Pro tip: Apply hair oil or leave in conditioner before braiding. This eases the tension on your hair as you’re braiding and tugging it.

6 Natural With a Boost

This is the ultimate lazy-girl secret. It’s revolutionary. It will blow your mind. Here it is: leave it down.

GASP. SHOCK. HORROR.

Hear me out, leave it down, but not without help! If you’ve got natural waves, this one’s perfect for you.

  1. Run a squirt (or two, depending on your hair length) of mousse or sea salt spray down your hair shaft, from the middle the the ends.
  2. Then, scrunch your hair to accentuate your natural waves, or twirl smaller sections to neaten up your curls.
  3. Air dry like you know they know who’s boss.

Pro tip: This method won’t work if your hair is absolutely drenched. It needs to be semi dry. So pack a bottle of mousse to work and do it in the ladies right before you step out!
