Blackheads are the bane of our existence. So, off with those heads!

Nothing ruins an almost perfect #barefaced look like pesky blackheads. Good news is, you probably have the best blackhead antidotes in your kitchen.

Blackheads are a product of sebum and skin cells that clog your hair follicles. They can cause acne and make your pores look enlarged *sadface. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of or prevent them. The answer might just be in your kitchen!

1 Egg White Mask

Natural Egg White MaskThis may sound gross, but an egg white mask is a great way to get rid of blackheads. Full of nutrition and goodness, egg white helps remove blackheads while tightening pores to prevent more blackheads from forming. Just apply egg white onto your skin, leave it to dry, then apply another layer; repeat the step until you’ve done 4 layers. Once the layers are thoroughly dried, peel or wash it off. Voilà, clearer skin!

2 Lemon Juice

Lemon Juice Blackhead RemoverLemon juice helps with reducing the size of your pores, making it harder for blackheads to form. The fruit also helps lighten darkened patches. Apply the lemon juice on affected areas and leave it on until it dries. If you have sensitive skin, dilute the lemon with water before application as the fruit’s acidic nature might be too harsh for you. Wash it off and be sure to moisturise and use sunscreen after as it might dry out your skin a little.

3 Baking Soda

Natural Blackhead RemoverThis works the exact same way as the lemon. Create a paste out of the baking soda by mixing it with water and applying it while massaging it into the skin. This one’s not for the girlfriends with sensitive skin, though!

4 Sugar And Olive Oil Scrub

Olive Oil and Sugar Blackhead ScrubA good way to prevent blackheads is to regularly exfoliate. Make yourself a face scrub using sugar and olive oil. Mix both ingredients and apply it onto your skin. Then, gently scrub in circular motions. Wash it off before patting dry with a clean towel.

5 Yogurt Mask

Natural Blackhead RemoverAnother good homemade mask ingredient is the yogurt. This cooling agent not only helps remove blackheads, it also soothes the skin. Apply it like a mask and leave it to dry for 10 – 15 minutes. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice to this mask. Double yay!

6 Green Tea

Gentle Green Tea Blackhead RemoverGreen tea is a regular player in home beauty remedies, so we weren’t surprised to find out that it works wonders to unclog pores. Apply the tea leaves (make tea for yourself before that!) on your face like a mask; wash it off once it’s dried. This helps get rid of blackheads while keeping your skin soft and supple. So much yes.
