If you can’t paint your nails to save your life, here are easy nail art tricks you can do using household stuff!
Professional nail art manicures can be really pricey. So this one’s for the girls who want pretty and creative nails without the price tags.
These nail art tricks can be done using everyday household items. Let’s get started!
1 Polka dots with bobby pins
Firstly, paint a base nail colour. Then, grab an old bobby pin with a rounded tip and dip it into nail polish. Dot away to create your polka dots! There are many ways to play with the polka dot design. You can jazz up one nail for the odd-one-out look, or do an ombre with multiple polka dot colours. You can even just dot your nails at the ends or diagonally. Be creative with this!
Sticky tapes make for good nail art stencils, especially for diagonal shapes. Once you’ve painted a base colour, cut your sticky tape into your desired shape or angle, then place it onto your nail before you paint the other colour. Keep in mind that your base colour has to be thoroughly dry before you stick the tape. To be safe, stick the tape onto your skin, then peel it off to rid some of its stickiness. This way, it won’t mess with your base colour.
First, select 2 or more complementary or even contrasting colours. Then, paint them in streaks on your makeup sponge. Place the sponge squarely on your nail to stamp the colours on. Repeat this step if the colour on the nail does not look opaque. Finally, clean up the sides of your skin from the excess nail polish, apply a topcoat, and you’re good to go!
After your base colour is dry, cut a small piece from your loofah and place it on your nail so that the pattern shows. Then, paint over the loofah layer. When you remove the loofah layer, you will see a fish scale-like pattern on your nail. It’s that quick and easy!
If you’re not so good with the brush, why not use a pen? A marker pen to be exact. Get metallic coloured marker pens and draw any design or pattern you want on your nail. You are only limited by your imagination!
After your base nail colour has thoroughly dried, dip a straw into your chosen nail colour, then splatter it onto your nails. Choose one, or many colours depending on your desired effect. This one’s not only pretty, it’s also fun! Here’s a tip: this one can get quite messy, so lay out some old newspapers or magazines before you start your splatter project.
