Why you should care

Being away from your complete hair care set or your favourite hair straightener doesn’t have to mean bad hair days! We look at tips that will help you (and your hair) travel in style.

Good hair is important, and doubly so during vacations! Hello selfies, wefies, and Snapchats!

Packing for a vacation can be exciting yet daunting. You’re torn between packing the essentials and practically everything from your vanity table. Here is a list of hair essentials to get you started:

1 Hair Accessories

Bobby pins, headbands, and hair doughnuts are quick hair emergency essentials. Putting a stylish headband or scarf over your hair is the quickest way to style your hair – plus, it’s easily removable for extra comfort during the flight, and can be easily put back on for your glamorous arrival.

A hair doughnut, on the other hand, keeps the hair up and away from your face. This not only looks good, but also prevents the oils from your hair from slicking your face. For more on how to care for your skin during a flight, read our article here.

Such hair accessories can be purchased at your nearest H&M outlet.

2 Small Plastic Containers

Instead of travelling with your hair giant-sized products, pour them into travel-sized containers. They will save you space and weight in your luggage – for all the shopping, of course!

Pack the containers into Ziploc bags to prevent leakage.

3 Floppy Hat

Yay for this multi-purpose wonder! Coconut oil moisturises the hair and cleanses the scalp. Pour some into those travel-sized containers for va-va-voom vacation hair.

Before zipping up your suitcase and jetting into the sunset, here are quick hair tips:

  • Plan out your hairstyles to determine the exact products, tools, and accessories you’ll need. This way, you won’t carry anything unnecessary!
  • Comb your hair out before a flight to prevent tangling from headrest friction.
  • Carry-on liquids above 100ml are prohibited, so put those into your check-in luggage.
  • Before you pack a cumbersome hairdryer, check if your hotel provides one.
