Walking into any beauty store or pharmacy, you are bound to see tons of mask types. What’s a girl to do? It’s hard to figure out just which ones will work for your skin type.

Read on about the different mask types to see which one suits you best!

1 Clay Mask

Facial Clay Mask
Problem with oily skin? Then the clay mask is for you! These masks are made from non-toxic (and sometimes organic) clay that absorbs excess oil off your face as well as help with acne. What we love most is that you can add in some of your own ingredients (try yogurt, turmeric, etc) and essential oils to enhance your store-bought clay mask.

2 Mud Mask

Similar to the clay mask, the mud mask can help with the same problems with added bonus of pore- and skin-cleansing properties. Mud masks also contain ingredients that help with mattifying skin without drying it up.

3 Exfoliating Mask

Need to remove dead skin cells from your skin to leave it looking soft and fresh? An exfoliating mask is perfect for you! The usual consistency of these masks are scrub-like with granules in cream or clay base. The granules help remove dead skin cells and surface impurities. Just be sure to moisturise after, to replenish lost moisture from exfoliation.

4 Peel-Off Mask

This is another type of mask that helps remove dead skin cells. Apply the gel, cream, or liquid consistency mask and let it dry before peeling it off (along with your dead skin) as a solid layer. No scrubbing involved for this one.

5 Sheet Mask

These paper or gel masks are easy to use and definitely a beauty favourite! All you need to do is place it on your clean face and allow it to work its magic. The idea behind sheet masks is to feed your skin a large dose of nutrients and moisture via a 15 – 20-minute lay-down session. Once you’re done, just rub the excess liquid into your skin for some extra moisturising goodness!

6 Charcoal Mask

Activated charcoal seems to be the new in thing in beauty, and we absolutely understand why! With multiple usage, it removes dirt from your skin by cleansing your pores and clearing your blackheads. This is a great remedy for those who are prone to acne too.
