They say “when life gives you lemons make lemonade”. Just make sure you save a few of those lemons for your hair!
“He better call Becky with the good hair” has been the most quoted lyric from Beyoncé’s latest visual album titled ‘Lemonade’. Although we don’t know who Becky is, we know that lemonade (lemon, actually) can indeed hook us up with good hair.
Lemons aren’t just for eating, their richness in vitamin C, Vitamin B, and minerals like magnesium are vital for healthy hair growth.
Here’s how you can use lemons to get good hair like Becky’s:
Skip the expensive products and go the natural route. Conditioning with lemon is not only inexpensive but also good for the hair, as unlike conditioners, lemons don’t contain potentially harmful chemicals.
As lemon is acidic in nature, you’d have to mix lemon juice(half a lemon, depending on hair length and volume) with other nutritional foods such as yoghurt, coconut oil, and mayonnaise.Yogurt repairs dry and damaged hair. Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and works as moisturizer and conditioner for the scalp and hair.Mayonnaise also increases your hair density. Leave the mixture on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Instead of expensive trips to the salon, visit your kitchen for an au naturel hair lightener.
Mix the lemon juice (from about 4 lemons, depending on your hair length and volume) with water in a spray bottle and spray the mixture onto your hair. Sit out in the sun for 1 – 2 hours, before deep conditioning your hair and rinsing the juice off with cold water.
The lemon juice enhances the sun’s natural hair lightening abilities, giving your hair the lightening effect it needs.
The trick to fast and fuller hair growth is hidden in the citrus magic that is lemon.
Vitamin C builds collagen, your body’s natural protein, giving your hair more body and strength.
Apply half a cup of lemon extracts with half a spoon of olive or coconut oil and a teaspoon of honey. The acidic mixture has antibacterial properties, that reduce hair loss, and promotes hair growth. Leave in for 30 minutes and rinse hair. For effective results, repeat process nightly.
4 Hair Loss Treatment
Endless strands of hair on the brush, on your pillow, and in the shower creates stress, which causes more hair fall and the vicious cycle repeats!.
Mix lemonade with apple cider vinegar to remove the dead cells that clog your hair follicles, preventing hair from growing. Ground black pepper, which is rich in vitamin A and C, opening the pores. Powdered cumin seeds which are rich in oxidants that reduce breakage. Wash off with cold water.
Lemon contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory components that reduce scalp irritation, alleviating dandruff.
Gently massage the scalp with a mixture of lemon juice and conditioner for a couple of minutes, then wash off with cold water. For effective results, you may add olive oil to further hydrate the scalp.
Side note: Lemon is quite acidic, so don’t put too much pressure when massaging the mixture into your scalp, and avoid scratching your scalp as the lemon’s acid will irritate the cut.
