Humid weather calls for more hydration, but gulping down 15 glasses of water a day is not as fun as consuming some of these.
Experts say that we should drink not 8, but 10 – 15 glasses of water daily. This is especially the case during hot seasons.
Fortunately, not all our hydration quota has to come from water. They can come from foods and delicious drinks too!
Watermelon
Watermelon is made up of a little bit of melon and a whole lot of water, 92% to be exact. If you feel like a snack, chomp on some watermelon and drink up its calcium, magnesium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C. That’s hydration and nutrition in one go!
Strawberry
Besides high vitamin C content, strawberries will satiate that sugar craving while keeping you hydrated. Eat it on its own or blend it into a smoothie with a fat-free or nut milk. Speaking of milk…
Milk
According to research, milk is an excellent source of hydration. It’s even good to drink after workouts, for recovery. Opt for fat-free or skim milk, but go ahead and treat yourself to the occasional chocolate milk!
Soup
Vegetable or herbal soups are a yummy way to drink your nutrients. ABC soups that typically contain vegetables and fruits like tomatoes, onions, cabbage, and celery contain hydrating ingredients. These, plus the water used to cook the soup make this snack ultra-hydrating!
Coffee and Tea
Good news, coffee addicts! Studies have debunked the myth of these hot beverages being dehydrating. So, enjoy your morning (and evening) cuppas guilt-free. If it’s a particularly hot day, freeze your mocha into ice cubes for a healthy alternative to ice cream, or add ice to your teas for a refreshing drink.
